Editorial Policy
How Live in PT researches, writes, reviews, updates, and corrects practical guides for foreigners in Portugal.
Live in PT publishes practical guides for English-speaking foreigners living in Portugal. Our editorial goal is to make important processes easier to understand while respecting the limits of general information.
Research process
Articles are researched using official sources where possible, including Portuguese government websites, public service pages, official forms, institutional guidance, and direct source links. We also consider common reader questions when deciding what needs clearer explanation.
Use of public forums and communities
Public forums, social media posts, and community discussions may be used to discover common questions, confusing steps, or practical pain points. They are not treated as official sources for factual claims about rules, fees, deadlines, or eligibility.
Use of AI tools
AI tools may assist with outlines, editing, summaries, formatting, or draft preparation. AI-only generic content should not be published. Articles need human review, practical editing, and source checking before publication.
Review and verification
Guides should be checked against official sources before publication and updated when important rules or source pages change. For higher-risk topics such as immigration, tax, healthcare, legal, financial, or employment matters, articles should clearly tell readers to verify decisions with official sources or qualified professionals.
Dates on articles
Published dates show when an article first went live. Updated dates show when meaningful changes were made. Last verified dates show when the key information was last checked against sources. These dates help readers judge whether a guide may need further verification.
Official sources
Where possible, articles include a separated official sources section. Structured data and source lists must match visible page content. We do not add FAQ schema unless a real visible FAQ section exists on the page.
Conflicts of interest
Advertising, affiliate relationships, or sponsorships must not control factual guide content. Any paid placement or affiliate relationship should be clearly labelled. We do not accept paid influence over factual statements about official processes.
Government affiliation
Live in PT is not affiliated with AIMA, IRN, Finanças, Segurança Social, SNS, gov.pt, or any Portuguese government authority.
